Google Business Profile Guide. Part 4

In previous articles, we've covered how to create a Google Business Profile account. Now, when you have your account created, we'd like to discuss options for optimizing it. Here are the steps you can take to do so:
  • Review NAP and Business description;
  • Add images to your profile;
  • Google posts;
  • Create a product or service list;
  • Ask for reviews;
  • Add FAQ (questions and answers);
  • Show off your unique aspects.

Review NAP (name, address, phone) and Business description

NAP is very important information because it helps potential clients find your business. It’s crucial to keep this information consistent anywhere your business appears online to avoid confusion (if you have a business account in different business catalogs, like YELP or Tripadvisor, check your NAP is the same). Your Business description should provide helpful information about your products and services. As well as the mission and history of your business.

Go to your Google Business Profile and click the "Edit business information" button. Check information.

Add images to your profile

Images can tell a lot about your business, products and services. Set your profile photo (usually your logo) and a cover photo that best introduces your business. Upload additional photos (photos of your products, services, dishes, exterior photos, interior photos, your team).
Google photo requirements are here.

Google posts

Google gives you the possibility to share special offers, events, products, and services directly to Google Search and Maps via Google Posts.
To add posts click "See your profile":
and then "Add update":
Posts can include text, photos, or videos. Types of Google Posts to create:
  • Offers: Promotional sales or offers from your business. Type a title, start/end date and photos. You can also include a coupon code (promo code), link to your website and details of your offer.
  • Updates: General updates about your business (or links to recent blog posts). You can add description, action button and photos.
  • Events: Event promotion for your business. Type a title, start/end date and a time. You can add description, action button and photos.
If you have special offers, this is the best way to show information to your potential clients. For example, discount during lunchtime or 1+1 offer.
Click "Add Update", write a description, add photos, and action button with a link to your website or social media (ex., book, buy or order online). Include high-quality photos and post regularly - it'll help your SEO. Posts last for only 7 days (but you can choose an “Event” post and set a longer period). Only a couple of posts are visible at once, there’s no benefit to having more than 2 live posts at a time.

Create a product or service list

In Google Business Profile you can show your potential clients a product or service list. Create a list with a minimum of three products, and fill it out with details. Your clients can click on individual products for more details. For restaurants, it could be the dish list, for beauty studios - a list of services you provide with description and price. Tourguide can add the most popular list of tours with photos, descriptions, and prices.

Click "Edit products", upload photos, give the product name, select a product category, and provide information about the price. Adding a link to the landing page of your product/service will help you to book it or order online.

Ask for reviews

To get the link for your clients to leave reviews, click on the “Ask for reviews” button in your business profile.
You can remind your clients to leave reviews by providing a link in emails, on receipts, or at the end of a chat interaction. A pop-up with your review link will appear. Copy it and share it with your customers.

Add FAQ (questions and answers)

In our work, we often come across the same questions from our guests and clients. Why not formulate these typical questions and present them in an FAQ?
Beauty studios, for example, can write down what cosmetic products are used or how you handle your tools.
A restaurant can write what milk alternatives it offers, whether there is a vegan menu, whether there is a children's area, etc.
Sign in to your personal Google account, and search for your business on Google Maps. Go to the “Q & A” section and post a question. Go to your Google Business Profile (sign in with your business account) and answer the question.

Show off your unique aspects

To add unique aspects, click on the “Edit profile” button in your Google Business Profile. Go to the ‘More’ tab and click the pencil icon next to the category you want to add important information about your business.
For restaurants, as an example, there are a lot of aspects: possibilities, children, pets, payment, parking, services, etc. Give your guests the fullest possible picture of your business.

Taking care of you and your business,

Bill&Tip (Bill and Tip) Team.
